Installing a Trailer Hitch on the Bad Boy E-Magnum Electric Mower: Tips & Fixes
Installing a Trailer Hitch on the Bad Boy E-Magnum Electric Mower: Tips & Fixes
Join me as I install a trailer hitch on the Bad Boy E-Magnum Electric Zero Turn Mower! In this video, we tackle the process of adding a simple pin hitch (rated for ~300 lbs) to tow a gorilla cart, sprayer, yard roller, aerator, etc. We hit a snag because the bolts that were included were too short (they didn't account for the 2-inch frame rail), requiring a trip to Tractor Supply for 2.75-inch bolts with lock nuts. Perfect for a variety of yard work and hauling around your property, this hitch is a practical upgrade, but the lack of clear accessory info from Bad Boy makes it a bit of a guinea pig experience. Follow along for tips, workarounds, and what to watch for when installing this hitch on your E-Magnum. Stay tuned for future updates on towing performance and more mower mods!

Tools and Parts Needed
Note: The included bolts were too short; use 2.75-inch bolts for the 2-inch frame rail. Some links are Amazon affiliate links. So we're going to go ahead and put on this new hitch. And it's just a simple pin hitch. I think maybe this thing's rated up to tow about 300 pounds. I mean, basically just guerrilla cart with some sticks, branches. Maybe you could use, you know, a sprayer or some, I don't know, aerator, whatever. I don't know, this thing just bolts on, like so.
But one of the, I guess. Frustrating and scary things, especially when you're spending this amount of money on something. So now is that you're a guinea pig. And my dealer, my dealer, my dealer, sold me this hitch kit and. Oh, yeah, that'll work. It's great. This is, you know, everything's fine. There's nothing on the Bad Boy website like that.
For every single mower that they've they have, they've released, they have a section for all the accessories that can go along with that mower. Right. So they don't have one for this. Magnum. So you're kind of cross-referencing different parts. My dealer has to call bad boy to figure out what works and what doesn't. They don't know anything about it, and they're just kind of relying.
Well, so whatever this kit is, it's is. Let's see. Bad boy thinks I can sell you a z t m z c c t kit. There's a part number for this e well, these bolts are about two inches too short. So what we've got going on here, the frame rail, which is great I mean this is how I'd want to want it be constructed. We've got two inches. Let's see if I can get this camera up in here.
Get about two inches to go through the bolt on. I think you guys can see what I'm saying. And so obviously those are way too short. So you got to go find your own bolts. Picked up these, went to Tractor Supply. I got a lock nuts on them. Those don't know. It's like a little rubber washer inside the.
Keeps it so the nut doesn't spin off the bolt. No tractor mower is vibrating. Not that we have much seen as there's no engine in there. But let me get you set up. Frame up, free up my hands and we'll put the switch on.
These are, three eights. A pretty tight because of this powder coating. Here it is. I tried going, you know, try to match in the rest of these bolts going, and I'm just going to make my life easier. Come out, put my. Not on the outside. Everything's too tight. You do it the other way.
So I'm just going to. Yeah. Maybe you got the wiring harness back here. Boom.
Jeez. You might. He could have gone with almost three inches. So I'll show you in a second here. Once I get her on. Needs two and a half work, but just barely been nice to go with, like, two. You go. If you're going to do this yourself and you need to go get bolts, you need, two and three quarter.
These will work, but not well.
All right. So there we are. Just a little bit hanging out here.
So they work. But it's as close as close can be. That's two and a half.
All right. Now we get a simple little pin hitch. I think I might go rent a, a yard roller, try to flatten out some ruts that we got from firewood this last year. Doing firewood. So, Archana, how that goes? When? When the time comes. But there you go. Got a hitch? Bad boy. Pulled the right bolts.
She is simple. Hitch. Nothing exciting. All right, let me. Guys, know what you think of this. I'm bad boy. Let me know if there's anything. Any questions? You have anything you want to know about this? Maybe I can answer them. We're all kind of just flying by the seat of our pants with this thing.
So I'm learning as you're learning. Here we go.
